CBA Chinatown's 2023 Spring Festival Celebration Gala Dinner  
   
 
After a hiatus of two years due to the Covid-19
pandemic, the Chinese Benevolent Society of
Vancouver and the Chinese Community resumed its
annual Lunar New Year festive celebration event.
This year the CBA and the Chinese Community
celebrated "The Year of Rabbit - 48th Vancouver
Chinatown Spring Festival" on Sunday, January
22nd, 2023.
Members of the three levels of government, PRC
consulate officials, special guests and various
Chinese community leaders were in attendance.
Yee Fung Toy Society of Canada, Yee Fung Toy
Society of Vancouver representatives, Kai Yi Yu,
Esther Yue, and Crystal Addison also
participated.
Happy and Prosperous Chinese Lunar New Year of
the Rabbit to all!

YFT Lunar New Year’s Gathering Luncheon  
Members of the Yee Fung Toy Society of Canada,
Yee Fung Toy Society of Vancouver celebrate
the New Year’s gathering on the eighth day
of the first month of the Lunar New Year, with a
special luncheon on Sunday, January 29 at the
Floata Seafood Restaurant.

On Sunday, February 19th, Edmonton Yee Fung Toy
Chairman, Mr. Ying Hua Yu, accompanied by his
wife, visited both the Yee Fung Toy Society of
Canada and the Yee Fung Toy Society of
Vancouver.

On Monday, February 20th, Chairman Bill Yee Yee
of Fung Toy Society of Canada attended the
BC-Guangdong Business Council and
Vancouver-Guangzhou Friendship Society 2023 Gala
event.

余德強書記伉儷拜訪新加坡余氏總會

Secretary Victor visited Singapore 
My wife May and I visited the Singapore Yee Clan
Association on Sunday Feb 26, 2023. That was the
day the Singapore Yee Clan Association members
had their monthly meeting at 2:00pm. Our cruise
ship was supposed to arrive at Singapore Marina
Bay Cruise Centre at 11:00am on that day. They were planning to pick us up from the Cruise Centre when we arrived at 11:00am, then have lunch together. After lunch, we could attend their meeting and meet all their members. But our cruise ship developed an engine problem and had to sail at a slower speed. First the arrival time got delayed to 12:00pm, then to 3pm, and again further delayed to 5:00pm. So we couldn't attend their monthly meeting at 2:00pm, and had to change plans.
When my wife and I get off our cruise ship at
5:30pm, we were welcome by Singapore Yee Clan
Association 新加坡余氏總會會長余文貴
(Ee Boon Kwee) and 副祕書余子基
(Peter Yee) & his wife. They drove us to
their 余氏總會堂所 to meet
some of their members. Their
堂所 is on 2nd floor in a 2 storeys
building. The Association owns the entire
building. They rent out downstairs commercial
space which operates as Pub and Karaoke. They
told me the building itself is worth over 6
million SG dollars.
Then we walked over to Chinatown Food Centre for
dinner eating local hawker style street food. We
met more Association members at dinner, total 2
tables. They like to drink beers and kept
pouring me beers, bottle after bottle, at the
end I must have drank between 3 to 4 bottles. I
wasn't sure, I lost track.
After dinner, we walked around Chinatown, they
told me a brief history of various historical
buildings. At 10:30pm, 會長余文貴
drove us back to Cruise ship terminal. All of
them were very friendly, a happy bunch and fun
to talk to. Before I said the final goodbye, I
made a SG$100 donation to their Association to
say thank you for their hospitality.

2023 Ching Ming Celebration in Vancouver And Annual General Meeting         
On Sunday, March 26th, around 11:00am, seven
members of the YFT Society of Vancouver and
Canada gathered at the Mountainview Cemetery to
attend the annual Ching Ming memorial service.
After the Ching Ming memorial service at the
Mountainview Cemetery, The Yee Fung Toy Society
of Vancouver membership 2023 Annual General
Meeting was held at the Society Hall at 12:30

Seattle Yee Fung Toy Family Association New Building Grand Opening                
April 23, 2023 is another historical date for
the Seattle Yee Fung Toy Family Association with
the grand opening of its newly rebuilt property.
The property became a permanent home of the
Association which has a history for many
decades.
On Behalf of the Seattle YFT Family Association,
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to
all members and guests who were able to attend
the Seattle YFT Grand Opening celebration Ribbon
cutting ceremony, Ancestor Veneration Ceremony

Tse Clansman Association 48th Anniversary Celebration       
     
Our Vancouver Tse cousins celebrated their 48th
Anniversary and their women group's 30th
anniversary on Sunday, April 30th, the
Anniversary banquet was held at the Grand Crystal
Seafood Restaurant, located at 4500
Kingsway, #2216, Burnaby, BC V5H 4V2.
The evening program was very enjoyable, which
include dancing, karaoke singing and prize

Vancouver YFT 2021-2022 Scholarship Awards 
  
    
On Sunday, June 11th, 2023, the YFT Society of
Vancouver held its annual scholarship awarding
ceremony at the Floata Seafood Restaurant. This
year, a total of 11 recipients were awarded
merit scholarships, 3 elementary school
students, 3 secondary school students, and 5
university students. On top of these awards,
Mrs. Carla Yee also awarded 2 essay prizes for
the best essay submission.

Chairman Bill Yee Attended Canada Teochew Federation 1st Board of Directors Inauguration Ceremony        
Yee Fung Toy Society of Canada Chairman Bill Yee
and I have the pleasure of being invited to
attend the first Board of directors inauguration
ceremony of the Canada Teochew Federation on
Friday, July 21st. The ceremony was held at the River Rock Casino Resort Hotel in Richmond.

余風采堂地下室空間 煥然一新

YFT Building Basement Renovated     
With the help of Board director Crystal Addison,
building manager Kai Yi Ye, painter Cindy and
designer Fred Leung, the Yee Fung Toy building
basement area got a facelift. By cleaning up,
adding fresh coats of paint, rearranging
furniture and hanging past gifted calligraphy
and art picture frames back to the walls.

Canada Vancouver Yunan Friendship Association Anniversary Banquet     
Yee Fung Toy Society of Vancouver Board director
Crystal Addison and I attended the Canada
Vancouver Yunan Friendship Association
Anniversary dinner on Saturday, August 19th. It
was a lavish affair which was held at the
Richmond Continental Seafood Restaurant, with
all the glitter and hype that money and
connections can buy: 2 professional emcees, 3
dance groups, 2 professional singers 小羅文 and 梁寶兒.
Raffle draw prizes that glued guests to their
seats for the draw after the eating was done, a
lively auction.
Guests include Richmond Mayor Malcolm Brodie,
ever popular after over 20 years continuously in
office, accompanied by Councilor Chak Kwong Au.
CBA President and board members were there, but
curiously no one from the PRC Consulate. MLA
Teresa Wat sent prerecorded greetings from
Victoria but there was no representation from
the government side. Jim

Mah Benevolent Society Birthday Party     
Ten members of the Yee Fung Toy attended the Mah
Benevolent Society Birthday party on Tuesday,
August 22nd at the Pink Pearl Restaurant.
Over 120 guests attended this August month
birthday event, Three members of the Yee Fung
Toy Society of Vancouver also have their
birthday in August.

Vancouver YFT Christmas Luncheon And Senior Birthday Party   
The Senior group of the Vancouver YFT held an
annual Christmas luncheon and senior members
birthday party on Sunday, December 10th.
Special thanks to Crystal and her helpers for
decorating the basement with a Christmas tree
and ornaments, and to Fred Leung for setting up
the new TV for karaoke. It was our first party
in the basement after getting it painted in the
summer.
The afternoon program include Karaoke, senior
birthday members were getting a package of
longivity noodles each, and all other guests
