How to Apply for Scholarship Awards

Award Objectives

• To nurture developing minds of young men and women who demonstrate academic, technical or artistic excellence, and to encourage them to further their education.
• To support their efforts at continual improvement in academic and extracurricular activities year by year.
• To encourage their involvement in activities and programs sponsored by the Yee Fung Toy Society of Vancouver.

Qualifications

• Applicants must be members in good standing of the Society.
• Parents of applicants under the age of 19 must also be members of the Society.
• Scholarship winners must accept awards in person at an award ceremony at the annual Spring Banquet of the Society (Spring Banquet date: TBA - March or April 2025) at the Floata Seafood Restaurant.
  
• An applicant must meet ONE of the following criteria:
• Has completed grade 4 or higher, and is continuing elementary or secondary school education.
• Has graduated from secondary school or completed an academic year full time at a post secondary institution, and has been accepted for another academic year full time at a post secondary institution.

Documentation

Please provide a copy of school report for the academic year just ended and copies of awards or letters of recognition received during the academic year for:

• Academic excellence in specific subjects.
• Voluntary service to school, church, or community.
• Artistic, literary, musical, or technical achievement.

Essay Question

Please write up an essay, and email a copy to vancouver.yee@gmail.com. It is important you send it by email as a way to notify us of your application. An essay is mandatory and required to be submitted with every scholarship application. If we do not receive this essay by email, we will not be able to process your application.

Applicants MUST submit the following essay topic below for their scholarship application.

• 1) "Tell the story of a meal you shared and why it was special"
